Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA)

Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, or BIA, is a fast, easy, and painless method of assessing body composition, which helps determine how much of your body weight is muscle versus fat. Get healthy and prepare yourself so you can have the healthy and happy baby you want!

Planning to have a baby?  Do you want to do everything you can to have the healthiest and happiest baby possible?  Come to a class or arrange for a 1:1 consultation with one of our practitioners who specializes in the testing, interpretation, counselling and education and support that can help get your body optimally ready to conceive and create the happiest, healthiest, smartest baby ever.  We assess your nutrition, methylation and related genetics, the health of your microbiome (and the microbiome your baby will inherit), total body toxic load, stress, exercise and lifestyle, and will prescribe a program to help you optimize your health and the health of your future baby. There is a lot you can do!

Learn from your genetics/snps to help inform your plan for optimal health and healing.

Epigenetics, technically speaking, is the process by which specific chemical marks are selectively placed either on genes or on nucleosomes that regulate the way genes are expressed.  These marks constitute methylation, acetylation, phosphorylation, and ubiquitination processes that attach specific chemical marks to the genes as a result of environmental signals received by the genes.  These marks can represent either “turning on” or “turning off” expression of the genes.  Methylation is one enzymatic process that is critically important to health, and one that we have learned how to improve, through the foods we eat, the nutrients we put in our bodies, the stress we encounter, how we move our bodies, and other lifestyle modifications.  If you are interested in learning more, consider mapping your genome, by ordering it yourself here: and attending our Methylation and Epigenetics education and support/ Q and A group, and/or a 1:1 consultation with one of our knowledgeable practitioners.

If we think of the genome as our “book of life” and the genes as the stories that are to be read in a specific cell, or “paper clips” that prevent reading of specific stories within the genome.  The environmental factors that influence the addition of these epigenetic marks include cellular effects influenced by hormones or trophic factors, dietary factors, chemicals or drugs, and psycho-social experiences.  The epigenetic process therefore has an important role in regulating gene expression and the translation of the genetic information with a person’s book of life into function.  For more information, click here.  We look forward to helping you maximize the turning on of positive gene expression, and the turning off of negative gene expression.  It is possible ~ come join us in the fun!

Nutrition Consultation and Support

Bio-individual nutrition is a term used to describe the fact that the foods that may be best for one person to help them achieve optimal health and healing may be very different from those that may be best for another individual.  Although there are underlying foundations of good nutrition like eating whole foods and avoiding processed foods for example, there is no one universal diet for everyone.  Therefore customizing diets for individuals is essential for optimal health and healing.  Influencing factors include an individual’s genetics, whether the person was born via vaginal birth or c-section, history of breastmilk vs. formula feeding, age of first antibiotic as well as type and frequency of antibiotics, use of prebiotics and probiotics, current diet, the overall health of the GI tract and diversity of the microbiome, presence of infections and/or toxins, stress level, and more.
